Day 7 Readings

I find the readings to be very useful content. I cannot tell you how many endless professional developments i have been to that are such a waste of time. often the presenter often they did not make the presentation someone at the district office did. Oh great, someone that sits at a desk, outside of a classroom is telling me what I need to do in the classroom. furthermore the presenter has no ownership of the presentation. I will be on a team this school year with others to present professional development and i hope i can remember to use these readings as a pre and post reflective piece.

Hi Kathleen,
I feel the same way that you do about most of our staff development presentations. They are presented by people who are not in the classroom, telling me how to teach. I get very bored with the presentations and tired of hearing the same information over and over again. I watch the audience and they are bored too. This is great information and we should share this information with our colleagues so we can be the presenters and connect with our audience!

Yes, I agree. It's not cool to sit and witness somebody present someone else's presentation. As a member of the audience you definitely begin to sense the presenter's uncertainty... Sadly, that's when the audience begins to lose respect for the presenter and shut down.

I agree with you Kathy. These would be good articles to look back upon when preparing for a presentation as well as after giving the presentation. They were short easy reads and very concise for getting the important points that are necessary for good presentations.
